Hello! I'm going to put the major announcement up front: in early February, I'll be releasing a demo for Spare Parts: Episode 3. It will contain the first four chapters, cost $15, and give you access to the full game when it releases.

It's been a year and a half since Episode 2 released. I wanted to have Episode 3 finished by the end of 2022, but that obviously didn't happen. There are a lot of reasons for that, but I won't get into all of it. Most vitally, it was a very difficult script to wrangle into a satisfying shape, on top of being quite long. I went through way too many revisions before I finally felt happy with it...but I do finally feel happy with it, so that ordeal's over.

Anyway, the majority of the work from here on is finishing assets and polish. There's still a lot to do! But everything is coming together really nicely, and I'm enjoying putting my all into it. Right now, I'm aiming for a release this summer, but I've been wrong before. Please don't hold me to that. I'm not even going to bold it, so you can pretend you didn't notice.

As for the demo's release date, I'm keeping it vague for now, but I'll post about its release within the next couple weeks. When I say "early February," I mean the first half of the month, so by the 14th. (Actually, now that I think of it, there's a scene in Chapter 4 that's pretty good for Valentine's day...)

This version of Episode 3 will have some WIP assets (particularly backgrounds and music, because Ruby and Theo are still working on their parts, respectively), but otherwise will be largely complete. Here's a tiny-but-convenient chart so you know roughly what you're getting.

Wow, the demo's bigger than the entirety of Episode 1! What a reasonable package!

I agonized over whether or not to do this for a long time, but in the end, I think it's necessary. To be frank, if I'm going to keep working on Episode 3 full-time, I need it to start paying some bills ASAP. You can think of it as a way to support the development of Episode 3 before it's finished. It will also be available to my Patrons, by the way. I'll post about it there when I get the chance, too.

It would mean a lot to me if you checked it out and told your friends. The ending of chapter 4 unintentionally turned out to be an extremely funny place to end the demo, so look forward to that.
